Our journals and sketchbooks come in four sizes.

From right to left: Small 5x7" (in Forest Green Banana Bark),

Medium 7x8" (in Chrysanthemum), Large 7x10" (in Black and Gold Ginkgo Leaf),

and Sketchbook 8x8" (Turquoise Terrazzo)

 

We have been making fine, hand-bound books since 1973.

Like all of our books, we make them by hand in our studio. We bind the books in a traditional binding style and we sew our book blocks by hand with needle and Irish linen thread so the book will lie flat when open. We don’t outsource any of our work and we only hand sign a book and ship it to you if we’re happy with its quality and finish.

We offer many different cover styles using beautiful, printed and textured papers from around the world. Since we make each book by hand, to order, we can customize any design and personalize to your liking, just ask us.

The inside pages use an 80# text (118 gsm) writing paper in natural white that has the look and feel of hand-made paper. The paper has a textured surface and works well with pens, pencils, and felt pens. Some of our customers even use it for watercolors.

 

Available size dimensions are approximate:

 - Small 5x7 (more precise dimensions: 6 ½ tall by 4 ½ inches wide)

 - Medium 7x8 (more precise dimensions: 8 tall by 6 ½ inches wide)

 - Large 7x10 (more precise dimensions: 9 ¾ tall by 6 ½ inches wide)

 - Sketchbook 8x8 (more precise dimensions: 8 by 8 inches square)

 

Journal pages can be blank, printed with lines, or printed with a dot grid (lines and dots are spaced ¼" apart and printed in a soft gray). Sketchbooks are only available with blank pages.

All books have 92 pages (46 leaves), or optionally 188 pages (94 leaves). The 92 page book is ½” thick and the 188 page book is ⅞” thick.
