This beautiful album is covered with Red and White Plum Blossoms on a black background fringed in gold. The cover paper is silk screened in Japan in the traditional style. Plum Blossoms mark the end of winter and beginning of spring.
We bound this book using japanese silk style book cloth in black and gold, and with a thin golden strip between the cloth and the Plum Blossom paper, making for an elegant book that is both colorful and traditional.
The inside pages are a heavy weight Strathmore Premium paper, in natural white with a textured surface and deckled edges reminiscent of old time hand made papers.
We hand-sew our pages through the fold using Irish Linen thread; the pages stay flat when opened. Tabs between each page compensate for the thickness of the mounted photos and keep the book from yawning open and putting undue stress on the binding.
The book has 56 pages (28 leaves.) The page is approximately 9 1/2" tall by 9 1/2" wide, allowing enough room for two 4x6 photos per page. Using both sides of each page, the album can hold over 100 photos.
Photos are mounted in the traditional way - using photo corners or gluing the photos onto the page. We recommend photo corners for best flexibility and the truly traditional look. Photo Corners are available in many different styles from various vendors or at Amazon.com.
